This sampler is noted in American Samplers by Ethel Stanwood Bolton and Eva Johnston Coe on page 188. The description in American Samplers reads "At Miss Pierce's School, Litchfield, Conn. 3 alphabets. A row of stiff cross-stitch flowers and strawberries at the bottom. 'Diligence and Perseverance are the Keys to improvement and Subdue all difficulties.'" Bolton and Coe list the source for this sampler as "From an illustration." It is not illustrated in American Samplers and its current location is unknown.
