Oil on canvas painting of Lt. Colonel William Smith Tallmadge (1785-1822). Half-length image, facing slightly to the right. Sitter has curly brown hair, long sideburns, brown eyes, and a large nose. He is wearing the uniform of the 46th United States Army - a jacket with gold epaulets, small brass buttons, and high collar and a white shirt with ruffle, high collar and black cravat.
