Biographical Notes:
Maria Toncray Watkins Stevenson the daughter of Daniel and Hulda Toncray. Her family relocated to Kentucky when she was a teenager, where she met her first husband, Isaac Watkins (1777-1827). They married January 31, 1815, and had four children, two of whom (George Claibourne and Mary Eliza) lived to adulthood. They moved to Arkansas in 1821.
Following the death of Isaac in 1827, and Maria married W.W. Stevenson on March 29, 1831, with whom she had one surviving child, Robert. Stevenson joined the gold rush with their son and never returned to Arkansas. Maria died March 21, 1874 and was interred in Little Rock with her first husband, Isaac Watkins.
