Biographical Notes:
Elihu Harrison was born in the South Farms section of Litchfield, Connecticut on December 10, 1797 and died in Stamford, Connecticut in 1855. He was active in town government and organizations, including serving as Town Clerk from 1826-1836, State Representative in 1832 and 1835, a Justice of the Peace, and secretary of the Litchfield Female Academy from 1835-1836, and served as a Director of the Phoenix Branch Bank and Litchfield Mutual Fire Insurance Co.
The Harrisons were early settlers in South Farms. Elihu's grandfather, also Elihu who died in 1806, ran a tavern in what is now East Morris. Daniel (1770-1811), son of the first Elihu, and Abigail (Goodwin) Harrison were Elihu's parents. Around the year 1818 Elihu was married to Miranda Warner Harrison. During their marriage the couple had two children, Minerva and Clarinda.
