Melissa Hays Higley (December 30, 1804)
Silas Higley was the fifth child of Ozias and Martha Gillette Higley. In 1802 Silas graduated from Yale College with a Bachelors degree. After completing his studies at Yale he studied law, and was admitted to the bar before the age of thirty. For more than forty years Judge Silas Higley practiced his profession in Hartford County, Connecticut. On December 30, 1804 he married Melissa Hays, also of Granby, and the couple had four children. Silas passed away on June 21, 1853.
Silas Higley is buried at Salmon Brook Cemetery.
