Biographical Notes:
Abigail Smith Tallmadge, daughter of Isaac Smith of Washington, New York, was born in the year 1803. Around the year 1816 Abigail may have attended Sarah Pierce's Female Academy in Litchfield, Connecticut where she recieved a formal education. Six years after completing her studies she married Nathaniel P. Tallmadge on December 4, 1822.

Abigail Smith Tallmadge of Washington, New York is listed as a subscriber to Sarah Pierce's text "Universal History" in 1816. It is known that not all subscribers necessarily attended the school. Until a solid citation of attendance can be found Eliza will be considered a possible student.
