Biographical Notes:
Lucien Bonaparte Webster was born in Vermont in 1801. He was graduated from West Point in 1823. He continued serving in the Army and was assigned to Fort Marion in St. Augustine, Florida in 1836. Frances Marvin Smith was the niece of his commanding officer. He participated in the removal of the Cherokee people. He later taught at West Point and served in the Mexican American War. He died of yellow fever in 1853.
