Biographical Notes:
William Coombs Thompson was born March 17, 1802 in Salisbury, New Hampshire. In 1820 he graduated from Dartmouth College. After completing his studies there he pursued a education in law. At this time Thompson may have attended the Litchfield Law School in Litchfield, Connecticut before studying with George Blake in Boston, Massachusetts and with Parker Noyes of Salisbury, New Hampshire. In 1824 he opened a law office in Concord, and remained there two years. From 1828 through 1852 he lived and practices law in Plymouth, New Hampshire before removing to Worcester, Massachusetts where he lived the remainder of his life. Thompson married twice during his lifetime. First to Martha Levertt Thompson on October 15, 1828. After Marth'a death he married Susan Nelson Thompson. William Coombs Thompson passed away on April 27, 1877.

No primary source citation for William Coombs Thompson's attendance at the Litchfield Law School has been found at this time. Until one is located he will be considred a possible student.
