Biographical Notes:
The Daughter of John and Jane Wells, Mary was the oldest of three children. She Married Lieut. W.A. Slaughter and moved to Washington where Lieut. Slaughter was stationed to protected the frontier from Native American attacks. Lieut. Slaughter was killed by an Indian, three years after the families move to Washington. Mary Slaughter moved back home with her parents for five years. She died on January 3, 1862 during the prime of her life.
