Biographical Notes:
Mary, the daughter of daughter of Major Timothy Dwight of Northampton and Mary Edwards, wed Major-Gen. Lewis Richard Morris in 1786. Some sources suggest that he deserted her shortly after their marriage, others that she did not want to live in Vermont and that they were legally separated. She then married William Hall of Ohio, where she died in 1813-14 at about 50 years of age. There is little information about her relationship with her daughter.
