Biographical Notes:
Matthews Flournoy was the son of Huguenot immigrants. He removed his family to Kentucky from Virginia. His home in Georgetown still stands. Family genealogy and newspapers give accounts of his death in an altercation with Indigenous people while journeying back to Kentucky in 1793.
