Biographical Notes:
Ebenezer Warren Sturdevant was born in Braintrim, PA in 1806 to Samuel and Elizabeth Skinner Sturdevant. He attended Hamilton and Union Colleges and studied law in Wilkes-Barre, PA with Garrick Mallory who studied law in Litchfield in 1810 and then with George Washington Woodward. He served as an attorney for the commonwealth, a delegate to the state Constitutional Convention, and as a Brigadier and Major General of the State Militia.
Sturdevant married Martha Dwight Denison in 1832. The couple had one child who died at an early age. He married a second time following Martha's death in 1832.
