Biographical Notes:
Edgar Loomis was born in Windsor, CT in 1812. He married Harriet J. Smith of Torrington in 1835. He later lived in Mississippi where he worked as a merchant; Maryland where he worked in the coal industry; New York, where he worked as a stock broker; then Illinois, where he started in coal, before working in grocery, and real estate. The couple is listed as residing with Harriet's parents in 1850.
