Biographical Notes:
Deborah Mott Baker was the oldest daughter of John Mott, a farmer, and his wife Deborah Webb, formerly of Massachusetts. She was born in Preston, Nova Scotia. At early age she was sent to Sandwich, Massachusetts to be educated near her mother's family. She was adopted by her aunt, Mrs. S. Burr and resided with her until her marriage to Walter Baker of Dorchester, MA, the politician and chocolate manufacturer. She died in London of consumption while on a tour of Europe with her husband and burried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Massachusetts.
Additional Notes:
Deborah's brother, Thomas Smith Webb Mott (July 28, 1800 - September 20, 1869) was a well known Episcopalian minister and served parishes in Maine, Georgia, Mississippi, and later in North Carolina.
