Joseph Adams, son of Rev. Amos Adams and Elizabeth Prentice Adams, was born on May 11, 1750 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. In January of 1792 Joseph married Deborah Marsh, and the couple had several children. Professionally he worked as a lawyer throughout his life, and also served as a trustee of the Litchfield Female Academy.
