Biographical Notes:
Abel Catlin was a doctor in Litchfield, Connecticut. He married Mary Wallace Peck, widow of Virgil Peck. He assisted William Grimes, a freedom seeker who escaped his enslavers, in purchasing his freedom. Grimes's autobiography appeared in a publication titled Five Black Lives.
