Biographical Notes:
Barzillai Hudson was the son of William and Mary Skinner Hudson and named after his great grandfather. Barzillai and his brother, William, opened a furniture and auctioneer business called, B&W Hudson.
Hudson later served as the first president of the Phoenix Life Insurance Company in Hartford and director of a Deaf and Dumb Asylum.
On October 8, 1816, he married Litchfield Female Academy student, Eliza Woodbridge. They lived a happy life on Pratt Street in Hartford with ten children. Unfortunately, only eight of the ten children lived to maturity. Hudson passed away on March 28, 1871 at the age of seventy-eight.
