John Rice Jones (February 11, 1791)
Mary Barger Jones was born in Pennsylvania on May 17, 1767. On February 11, 1791 she married John Rice Jones in the town of Vincennes in the Northwest Territory (later Indiana Territory and currently the state of Indiana). During their thirty-three year marriage the couple had eight children. Around 1808 the Jones family relocated to Kaskasia, the seat of government of the newly formed Illinois Territory. Two year later they moved to St. Genevieve in the Louisiana Territory, then headed to St. Louis, and finally settled in Mine a Breton in the Louisiana Territory (later to be incorporated as the town of Potosi in the Missouri Territory). It was in Potosi that Mary Barger Jones spent in last year of her life. She died there on January 6, 1839.
