Biographical Notes:
Asahel Bacon was born in Woodbury, Connecticut on December 3, 1764 to Jabez and Lydia Hungerford Bacon. On June 24, 1783 or 1784 Asahel was married to Hannah French. The couple resided in Roxbury, Connecticut where Asahel succeeded as a merchant, farmer, and landowner. Bacon's business interests also led him to invest in the Roxbury iron mine. Asahel Bacon was also political. In 1812 he served as a Connecticut State Representative from Roxbury.
