Biographical Notes:
Henry M. Brace, son of Abel Brace and Betsey Doane Brace, was born on May 20, 1828. After graduating from Yale in 1847 he taught school in his hometown for three years, then studied law in an office in New York City, and was admitted to the bar in November of 1851. He continued the active practice of his profession until feeble health cause him to retire. In 1855 he wed Emeline C. Demarest, and the couple had one son. Henry M. Brace died from acute bronchitis, at Catskill, New York, on July 10, 1901.
